Undergraduate Assessment Day is used to conduct activities to assess the degree to which graduating seniors have mastered the material relevant to their major and to the Robert B. Willumstad School of Business Learning Goals. These assessments count toward the Capstone Course requirement in each undergraduate business degree program.
All Willumstad School of Business and University College students enrolled in a School of Business Capstone Course (either Business Policy & Strategy, BUS468, for students in a business degree program; or Senior Seminar in Economics, ECA444, for students in B.A. in Economics program) are required to take a discipline-specific knowledge exam and one other exam that covers one of the Willumstad School of Business Learning Goals. These exams will be administered on the designated Undergraduate Assessment Day in each term.
Currently, the first Friday in November, April, and June has been designated as the Undergraduate Assessment Days for fall, spring, and summer terms, respectively, for students enrolled in a business degree program. Students in the Economics program will undergo the assessment activity only on the first Friday of April. Please note that the exact dates will vary each semester due to religious holidays or other events.
Discipline-Specific Knowledge Exam
The discipline-specific exam that students take corresponds to their major. Thus, B.B.A. in Accounting students will take the Accounting Exam, B.S. in Finance students will take the Finance Exam, and B.A. in Economics students will take the Economics Exam. All other undergraduate business students, including University College students, will take the Management Exam. These exams consist of multiple-choice questions designed to cover a representative sample of topics from courses related to their major. A detailed review sheet is distributed to students prior to the exam.
