  • move up in their existing career, if already employed in an entry-level accounting job

Why Earn a Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in Accounting at Adelphi University in New York on Long Island?

  • You will learn accounting under the guidance of our caring faculty who combine their academic expertise with industry knowledge. You will also benefit from our excellent accounting alumni connections.
  • Due to the sequential nature of the accounting courses, students may complete the Certificate in six semesters or three years. However, those students who transfer in up to 15 credits (consisting of coursework that is equivalent to ACC101, 102, 201, 202, and 203 at Adelphi, with a grade of C or better) from their prior academic work may be able to finish the Certificate in two semesters or one year. The approval of the chair of the Department of Accounting & Law is required.
  • For students with a non-accounting bachelor’s degree, the courses in the Certificate would help meet the accounting prerequisites for MBA with Accounting Specialization at Adelphi as well as many other institutions.¹

¹For more specific information about meeting the prerequisites of the MBA programs at other institutions, please consult those programs’ curriculum requirements.

Application Requirements

The College of Professional and Continuing Studies was founded to serve the nontraditional and adult student, and its admission policy reflects a commitment to enrolling students who may have not had the opportunity to complete their degree in a traditional undergraduate program.

  • Submission of an official transcript from a regionally accredited four-year college that shows successful completion of a bachelor’s degree in any subject with a minimum of 2.75 GPA cumulative for all undergraduate work.
  • Although past academic records are required and reviewed, more focus is placed on a student’s present motivation to earn a degree than with previous academic performance.
  • The Office of University Admissions makes every effort to notify candidates of their admission decision approximately three weeks after a completed application is received.
  • You can be admitted at any time during the academic year.
