Carbon Citizenship and Sustainability: Live, Learn and Share

Osman Ahmed, Ph.D., is presently a principal technical advisor at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory. There, he is leading an initiative to deploy, demonstrate and create exceptional digital value that the Internet of Things (IoT) ecosystem can offer—from sensing to machine learning applications—for government and other markets.

Prior to his current appointment, he worked for 28 years at Siemens where he discovered affordable IoT for applications in buildings.

His discovery of IoT was selected as the “2004 Innovation of the Year” by Industrial Automation Magazine. That same year, he also received the “Siemens Inventor of the Year” lifetime achievement award.

Dr. Ahmed has a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has published/presented more than 75 technical papers worldwide. 

There will be a light mixer following the event in the University Center, Room 213.
