In October 2010, the School of Business opened its Trading Room in the Hagedorn Hall of Enterprise. Tuesdays with Renminbi
China is a frequent topic of discussion in my International Financial Management class on Tuesday evenings. Since there is always some reason to discuss the Chinese economy and its relationships with the United States and the rest of the world, we spend almost every single class with China as a topic for one reason or another. Chinese students populate half of the class. This makes for an incredible opportunity for the entire class and me to share different points of view. Adelphi Holds 2010 MWE College Accounting Challenge
Adelphi University made a strong comeback and earned a commendable second place during the 2010 MWE College Accounting Challenge, sponsored by Margolin, Winer & Evens, a leading accounting and advisory services firm in Garden City, NY. Held for the first time at Adelphi and hosted by Fox News Channel analyst, Newsday political columnist, writer, and comedian Ellis Henican, the Accounting Challenge included five competing colleges, represented by teams of four students. Adelphi, SUNY at Old Westbury, Molloy College, NYIT, and C.W. Post team members stood at their respective podiums and buzzed in, Jeopardy-style, to answer questions posed in categories that included auditing, ethics, financial accounting and income tax. Culture of Collaboration
On October 27, Adelphi University hosted the Fall 2010 CPA Breakfast Meeting with representatives from some of Long Island's leading CPA firms. Many of the representatives in attendance were Adelphi alumni who offered their firsthand perspectives on the Adelphi accounting program and how it prepared them for their current profession. The event drew partners from big names including PricewaterhouseCoopers, Deloitte, KPMG, BDO Seidman, Grant Thornton, among others. Read More...

Adelphi at the Forefront of Management Innovation
Three School of Business faculty members, Professor Jeffrey Goldstein, Assistant Professor Joyce Silberstang, and Associate Professor James Hazy recently co-authored “A Complexity Model of Innovation and Entrepreneurship: Context Mechanisms and Emergence,” which earned a Thought Leader Award for Best Conceptual Paper from the Academy of Management and the Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice Journal. Shaping the Future of Business Statistics
On October 16 and 17, 2010, Professor Zhimin Huang participated in the Business Statistics Forum of the Pearson Business Statistics Team in Chicago, Illinois. The goal of the forum was to address the current role of business statistics education and how it will evolve in the future. Read More...
