The School of Business building becomes the Hagedorn Hall of Enterprise |
History was made earlier this year when Horace Hagedorn and wife Amy donated $1 million dollars to Adelphithe school's largest one-time gift from a living individual. To celebrate this generous gift and to herald Mr. Hagedorn's success as an entrepreneur, the building housing the School of Business was renamed the Hagedorn Hall of Enterprise. Following the dedication ceremony, Randy Cohen, columnist for The New York Times Sunday Magazine, inaugurated an annual program on Corporate Social Responsibility named for the Hagedorns, with a talk on "Everyday Ethics." Presentations were made by Harriet Green, vice president of worldwide marketing, Arrow Electronics; Rich Galant, deputy managing editor of Newsday; and Dr. Samuel Natale, professor of administrative science in the School of Business.
"Horace Hagedorn is a widely respected, innovative business executive active in a variety of endeavors, an entrepreneur recognized for his commitment to high ethical standards, and a leading philanthropist whose generous support has aided substantially a diverse group of educational, health, social service, and environmental organizations," noted President Scott.
The Hagedorn Corporate Social Responsibility lecture series kicked off in the fall with a lecture by attorney David Boies on September 9, 2003.
