MS in Professional Accounting

Jump-start your career with Adelphi’s one-year MS in accounting program.

A graduate degree in accounting is a passport to exciting career opportunities in today’s rapidly globalizing economy. Through our rigorous MS in Professional Accounting, you will:

  • Master CPA Exam principles
  • Gain hands-on professional experience
  • Focus on career training and networking

The program is designed for motivated students, with undergraduate degrees in accounting, who want to complete the 150 credits required for a CPA license in New York state. For those students who have undergraduate degrees in other areas, the program can be modified to accommodate career switchers.

Beyond access to career-boosting internships and networking events, Adelphi hosts a yearlong professional CPA review program on campus, the only on-campus program offered by a university on Long Island or in Brooklyn or Queens, New York.

  • “The MS program really helped me in preparing for the CPA exam. In particular, the Financial Reporting Practice class was of great assistance in preparing for FAR, Professor Pandit really took his time in making sure we understood the material. The intimate class sizes allowed for a more responsive environment where participation from the class was more enticing as a whole than ever before.”

    Joseph Camoia, MS ’19

Becker CPA Exam Review

Through our partnership with Becker Professional Education, a recognized leader in CPA Exam preparation, we offer you the opportunity to prepare for this difficult exam by attending on-campus prep classes.

Your Adelphi accounting education, along with the Becker CPA Review classes, covers the technical knowledge you’ll need, and the Becker program provides insights into how to prepare for the exam as well as strategies you can use for taking the four-part exam.

Why Take the CPA Exam Earlier?

Many accounting students tend to wait to take the CPA Exam until after starting their professional career. But at Adelphi, the Becker CPA Exam Review program can give MS in Professional Accounting students the extra help they’ll need to complete this difficult exam shortly after graduation.

One reason—and it’s a big one—for taking the exam earlier is that many firms offer financial bonuses to those who have already passed. Additionally, successfully completing the CPA Exam will enhance your career opportunities.

Becker’s on-campus sessions cover all four parts of the CPA Exam over the course of the academic year. Once one portion is covered by Becker’s expert instructors, students can review and sit for that part, allowing them to divide and conquer the exam.
