Introduction
The economics program combines theoretical analysis with the empirical study of institutions. Students focus on the discipline's pragmatic aspects by studying the impact of current economic policy issues on individual, national and global scales. Department faculty conduct research in the areas of economic development, environmental economics, history of economic thought, human capital theory, labor economics, international economics, and systems of political economy.
Many economics majors go on to graduate studies in economics, business administration, and law. Others enter directly into employment in financial services, consulting, government and related areas.
